May 2008

I was raised by a dad who was a cowboy at heart. As kids, every time we would head out west for a family trip, my dad would put on his cowboy boots and hat. Usually he was headed towards an auction in Colorado or Texas first, so he’d be driving the pick-up (maybe even piggy-backing) and my mom, myself, brother and sister would be in the car. I have a lot of good memories of seeing the country with my family.

I got tagged by PinkuPixie over at Bits -n- Pieces now I need to think of 7 random/weird things about me, LOL! Here is what to do when you are tagged….

1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Alright, 7 facts about me …

* I have arthritis and fibromyalgia, so I never know from one day to the next what I will be able to do that day. I am feeling better than I have in years though due to finding a really great doc.

* I bought a hair streaking kit, the kind with a small comb to use when putting on the goop like 2 months ago and I still haven’t done it. My best friend was going to do it with me but we haven’t gotten together yet.

* I love canned Asparagus and will eat just that for dinner sometimes. Salt and pepper, in the microwave, and it’s done! I hate fresh because it’s too hard.

* I have 2 daughters, one who is 27 and one who is 9. Yeah, I know. It really is great though.

* I floss my teeth in bed every night before I go to sleep. I feel dirty otherwise.

* I am hooked on diet coke with lots of ice because I have to chew the ice. I know it’s bad for my teeth, but I’ve had major stress in the last few months and I didn’t want to go back to smoking which I quit a long time ago, so this is my crutch. My dentist is probably going to have a fit.

* I absolutely love where I live. The Rio Grande river is not far behind my house, I have a yard full of trees, as do my neighbors – there are only 5 houses on my street – I can see mountains out of my kitchen window, I live 15 minutes from the largest lake in New Mexico, and I live in the desert. It’s a sort of odd paradise.

Okay, there’s my 7. Now to tag 7 people!! (Give me til tomorrow!

Here is my favorite picture right now. Ayiana and I got into a photo booth at the mall in Cruces last week and it was great because it made duplicates of the pictures so we both got a set. What a beautiful face. She just automatically lifted up the pics next to her face like that. I’ll have to print this for her to have a copy too.

I don’t know what is going on with my computer. Suddenly I can’t get into my Photobucket website. I can see my pics but I can’t log in and my links aren’t working. I want to put a slideshow on the website so I guess I’m going to start all over with a picture upload site. Otherwise, it has been a long day. I’m continuing to clean my home. The den is being tackled (sometimes literally! lol). I’ll be cleaning the carpet tomorrow. I removed everything from the room and the walls, vaccuumed, and made plans to remove books from the shelving. I have a whole wall of built in shelving and I am planning to use some of those shelves to store and organize my scrapbooking supplies. At the same time, our multi-purpose game table is in there, and we still want to use that occasionally. I really don’t mind these kinds of challenges. I enjoy organizing and making things work.

I’m glad I don’t have anywhere to go today. It is so windy, sustained between 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. I had to go out and make sure everything around the yard is weighted down. I’m spending some time on my favorite board today DigiShopTalk. They are the nicest people and very creative and fun. Stop by sometime and you’ll see what I mean.

Someday I’m going to get serious and instead of running all over the internet picking up gorgeous freebies I’m going to start learning to make digi pages with PSE 5. I get torn between wanting to get the house moved around and playing on the computer. I try to leave it off in the morning, but it’s always calling my name by the time I’m done with breakfast.

My dear friend Sharon from church has a cancerous tumor so please pray for her. My other dear friend Bill is in the hospital in a lot of pain. He is like my grandfather, so please pray for him as well.

If nothing else, we can be thankful for our health, even if it’s not perfect.

I thought I’d try WordPress for a while. After all, I was seeing a lot of digi-scrappers with WordPress blogs, it looked “professional”, whatever that means. So I gave it a fair shot, it’s been about a month. I don’t know if they are still a new site or if they just have lots of glitches, but things didn’t go the way they should have all the time, and it wasn’t as easy as it is here to move around the items on your page. So I made the big decision, to move one more time.

Now to the important stuff. It’s stinkin’ hot outside. My car said it was 105 just now. That’s just too hot, too early in the season. Here come the electric bills.

I’m going to try my hand at decorating a few different styles of notebooks and see if they will sell. I also have papier mache ornaments in both black and vanilla, as well as 3 sizes of one book each, from the same material, to decorate. I need to find a way to get some $$ flowing in here. And the notebooks are so cute when they are done. I think it would be a real nice little graduation gift along with a foo-foo pen, or just an anytime gift.

I’m not so sure what to do with the ornament dealies. Those are more of a challenge because I’ve never seen anyone use them before. I’m sure I will get some helpful responses if I post on the right forums.

One good thing for me about starting to blog is that it makes me sharpen up on my writing skills. I can’t believe some of the mistakes I’ve made just with spelling. Well off to work on those books, etc.
